This week our ambassador visited the Assistance Centre of the Order in Madrid. This important project consists of various medical consultations, such as general medicine, ophthalmology, gynecology, dentistry, etc. Recently a section for psychological aid was added. This project is headed by Dr. Marisa Fernández Jiménez, Dame of the Order, with a group of volunteer doctors and nurses. They try to give vital aid to many homeless, recently arrived, immigrants, etc.
Close by is the Order of Malta’s soup kitchen of the Plaza Castilla which serves 300 daily meals al weeklong. Also here, members of the Order and volunteers work to serve the needy.
